You are so great for bringing this to peoples attention. I feel like even though this is graphic in nature, people need to see a bit more of the reality of life in the way you’ve displayed. Such encouraging words, and your illustration brings to mind a catharsis of tears. I will never take education for granite Ever. If there were souls, you have a beautiful one, and you know how to bring others souls to great heights, channeling something further then yourself. Wonderful work as always. Hope to see more, I’m rooting for an age where we can find peace through examples like these.

I was definitely inspired by these comics. I’ve always loved comics and art, and I want to be an illustrator/graphic designer. I’m in high school right now, and really worried about getting good grades and into a good college and all, but I wasn’t sure if I could make a living with art. The combination of genuinely inspirational quotes- and I usually hate that sort of thing- and incredible comics made me realize:
a.) art is so important and powerful
b.) I will make a living somehow
c.) Work should be doing what you love and are good at

So I can’t thank you enough. ^_^

I discovered Zen Pencils about a month ago, and everything you do is beautiful and inspiring.

In the spirit of inspiration, I’d like to share one of my favorite quotes with you. It’s usually part of a longer quote, but the part that’s really important to me is this:

A couple of years ago I had a “mid-life crisis” (read, “I don’t want to be a waitress/bartender for another 25 years”) and went back to school to change careers. While in school I discovered accounting and decided I wanted to be the punk-rock accountant chick.

The short version is that I graduate on February 1st, already have the dream job where they don’t CARE that my hair is orange (in fact, they like it), and that quote now has even more meaning to me.

I don’t know if you’ve already drawn that one (I haven’t had the time I need to pour though your archives yet), but it would be a good one to consider. I’d even buy a print!
