Carlin often said his act covered three main areas. The first was the English language (Euphemisms). The second was the little things and experiences humans all share (A place for my stuff), and the final was the big topics of life such as religion and politics (Why we don’t need the 10 Commandments). However, the theme that permeated all of his material was HUMANITY’S BULLSHIT. He pointed out all the bullshit in the world and warned others from believing any of it. It’s the main message I took from his work and for that, I will forever be grateful. Thank you, George.
- The above quote is actually a mash-up of two of Carlin’s bits – Amercian Bullshit (You are all Diseased) and Proud to be an American (It’s Bad for Ya).
- This is the first piece I did as pure vector artwork using Adobe Illustrator. Although I’m happy with the results, I prefer using pens and Photoshop.

Truth is often bitter and almost everyone is overly sensitised to think otherwise by conditioning. You are thought to instantly respect your elders on the simple premise of their age, which is in all fairness a very irrelevant thing, but once conditioned to think in a manner it hurts to think otherwise. I will have to agree with you to the extent that I’ve experienced bullshit being sent by way by all the mediums mentioned. In the end, everybody is full of shit. Yourself included.
I know people might not like the wording and such, but it’s true. We all have to deal with so much from everyone! Learning how to not let it overwhelm and discourage you will help so much in reducing a lot of stress. I like that you chose this quote, and hope to see more of you.

some commentators think Carlin is a bit extreme, to me he’s just plain honest and most of people just ‘pretend’ to be good but inside they are… full of bullshit. It’s because of this complacency we got so far in the hole of self-destruction. I believe we need to scream like mad, protest, turn the tables over and put all those Wall Street Parasites in jail, reform our Financial system, so it’s backed up by something of value and tangible, not just tricky words and scammy schemes; become self-sustained and restore the Ecology of our Planet. There’s so much to do, why waste it on BULLSHIT!!!?

“its bad for ya” is a great indicator of how impressive the run of carlin’s career was. even after 13 hbo shows and at 70 years old carlin could still be thought provoking. the finale on rights and “civic bullshit” in that show was up there with the 10 commandments, 7 words, and “man in the sky” imo. I like the segway from the “youre all diseased” material to the part about children. its an interesting combination and the two segments fit together well.
Yep, It’s Bad For Ya is my favourite Carlin special.
that’s the problem with most Western countries. they try to shield kids from the bullshit that life has to offer & most often than not feel alienated & sometimes scared when they finally move to the real world.
thus, they feel the need to push their ideals on those that they can’t understand instead of compromising for each others benefit.
