Robert Herrick (1591-1674) was an English poet most famous for this poem. It’s mainly remembered for its first line “Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,” thanks to Robin Williams’ classic speech in Dead Poets Society. The poem falls under the genre of Carpe Diem poetry which Herrick specialised in.

The idea for this comic was inspired by a friend’s experience coming out to his parents. I’m obviously in favour of marriage equality and it’s embarrassing to post this comic, while my own country, Australia, still hasn’t legalised gay marriage.
